Sunday Show & Tell

It's time for show and tell. All the cool kids are doin' it, right? And since the darn projector broke this morning when we tried to see THE movie of the weekend, I gotta at least do something that the cool kids are doing to attempt to hold on to any coolness I may have left.

This Memorial Day weekend, I'll share the only two pictures in my collection of someone in uniform.

This is my maternal grandparents on their wedding day in February 1944. They're so young in this picture: 20 and 23. Granddad was in the Coast Guard and had just returned from the South Pacific. He learned that he'd be in California for several months and "sent for" Granny via telegram. She quit her job in Dallas on the spot and rode the train to Oakland with her aunt and uncle as escorts.

This picture is of my dad's stepfather, Lloyd and his buddies in Korea. Lloyd is the one on the far right. My dad's life as the oldest child in a constantly moving Army family shaped his life, and in turn my life, in so many ways.

Mel hosts the weekly show and tell. Check out Donnas's offering as well as all the others in the "class."
P.S. My profile picture was taken on the same trip that Donna shared.

Happy Memorial Day!

I almost posted an old photo of my grandmother sitting in the moon! But I don't have a scanner and the picture of a picture thing, is just bad.

Loved your post below about The Real World!

Great photos!

I also think my shoulder is in the very corner of your profile pic. My sunburned shoulder if I remember correctly.
